What is Two-Step Verification and Why Do We Need It?

Two-Step Verification (also known as Two-factor authentication) is a security measure that requires users to verify their identity using two factors of authentication. Factors can be something users know, like a password, something they have, like a phone, security token, or email account, or something they are, like a fingerprint. Two-factor authentication helps improve the security of our site because it is more difficult for attackers to compromise multiple factors.

How Two-Step Verification Works on Our Site

We have set up email verification on our site, which means that to access our site, you not only need to have the correct credentials and pass ReCAPTCHA, you also need to have access to the email address associated with your account.

1. After you have entered your credentials, passed ReCAPTCHA, and clicked on the Log in button, you will be taken to a screen titled, “2-step verification.”
2. You will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code that has been sent to the email address associated with your account. The subject line of this email will be, “Here’s your verification code.” The verification code is valid for 30 minutes.
3. Enter the verification code into the Enter code field.
